The Nurse Resident, under the supervision of the program manager/unit manager and in collaboration with his/her preceptor, will be responsible for the provision of nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with MyMichigan Health policy and the state of MI. Administers and monitors patient response to therapeutic interventions. The Nurse Resident demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process as it relates to patients and families; is accountable for professional nursing practice; collaborates with health care team members, patients and their families in the provision of care. Delegates to and provides direct supervision to other health care team members as appropriate in the implementation of the plan of care. Acts as an advocate for patients and their families and practices within accepted ethical and legal parameters of nursing. Adheres to system and department compliance policies, and any and all applicable laws and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. This newly licensed RN will participate in the Nurse Residency Program (NRP) activities that have been tailored to successfully transition new RNs into independent practice by the conclusion of the program. The Nurse Resident will be supported by the Organization Development Manager, Clinical Education Specialist and unit-based preceptors trained to guide your development and develop confidence, critical thinking and expertise in the professional role of an RN.The Organization Development Manager in collaboration with the unit manager is responsible for ensuring that the RN resident consistently meets the necessary performance expectations associated with the residency curriculum to ensure successful completion of the residency program and transition into a professional nurse position. The Nurse Resident is not permitted to pass medications until licensure has been granted by the State of Michigan.
