About The Position

Under the administrative direction of the Manager of Radiation Therapy, administers radiation treatment accurately and efficiently as per physician’s orders and according to simulation instructions. Requires advanced clinical expertise in CyberKnife and Brachytherapy procedures as well as proficiency in operating Varian linear accelerators and CT simulation equipment. Responsible for training and developing unit staff members, providing clinical guidance, expertise, and constructive feedback to ensure high standards of patient care and operational excellence. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor within the unit, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality patient care. Supports departmental goals related to clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous professional development. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and, values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy
  • Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Registered
  • Radiation Therapist by American Association of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CyberKnife System Product Training Certification by Accuray Center (Issuing Body)
  • Minimum seven (7) years minimum as a Radiation Therapist, with five (5) of those years in specialized/advanced Radiation Therapy treatments/techniques.
  • Expert-level knowledge in Radiation Therapy techniques and modalities, including Cyberknife Proton Therapy, SBRT, SRS, Brachytherapy, and IMRT/IGRT.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety protocols, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Understanding of complex treatment planning parameters unique to CyberKnife.
  • Advanced proficiency in real-time image guidance, with measurable accuracy and responsiveness when engaging moving targets.
  • Knowledge in fiducial-based tracking and placement.
  • Skilled with Radiation treatment planning systems, EMR for oncology, and linear accelerator technology.
  • Skilled with systems (e.g. Synchrony) to track and compensate for real-time respiratory motion.
  • Highly-skilled at managing plan QA, imaging validation, and adaptive troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to participate in clinical reviews, new technique rollouts, and department improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to identify and respond appropriately to machine faults.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and develop staff in CyberKnife competencies.
