About The Position

Specialty Pharmacy Manager: Provides integrated support to patients and physicians by providing a 'hands-on" approach to total quality patient care through the delivery of a full continuum of medication administration from preparing medications to giving pharmacological information to monitoring patient drug therapies and providing adherence support. · Plans and manages the pharmacy in compliance with all legal and regulatory parameters, in cooperation with all other departments, and as an efficient and profitable business center; · Is an active member of the Quality Management Committee; · Builds a high quality, service-oriented pharmacy team; · Directs, coordinates, and evaluates pharmacy staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; succession planning; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; · Assures staff training and competency; · Complies with Human Resources policies. May delegate policy components, but retains responsibility for performance; · Works with Shields and hospital partner staff to continually develop and implement ideas for delivering high quality, cost effective services, including clinical management programs, adherence and persistency initiatives, etc.; · Implements record systems and processes for the operating unit; · Oversees inventory procedures of Specialty Pharmacy · Guarantees compliance with the state and federal regulations, accrediting body standards, corporate policies, and standards of performance; · Oversees pharmacy patient services directly or through a qualified individual with responsibility for policy implementation, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement; · Participates directly in pharmacy services as required; · Manages compliance to the Company formulary as applicable; · Oversees staff allocation Management responsibility for all pharmacy personnel; may direct subordinate managers/supervisors; · Knowledge of accreditation standards and requirements; · Works independently; demonstrates leadership in the practice of pharmacy; · Ability to supervise employees, to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments; · Ability to foster a cooperative work environment; · Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with branch departments; · Employee development and performance management skills; · Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures; developing and implementing new strategies and procedures; · Knowledge of computerized information systems, including financial applications; · Knowledge of specialty pharmacy reimbursement: state, federal and commercial; · Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures; · Knowledge of management principles and practices; · Ability to develop, plan, and implement short range and long range goals; · Oversee internship/education programs; · Other tasks as assigned;

Requirements

  • Applicant must hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS in Pharmacy and be a licensed Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Required 1+ years' experience as a retail and/or clinical pharmacy manager
