About The Position

Primoris Energy Services is currently seeking experienced Welders for ongoing and upcoming project(s) across Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for Lay out, fit and weld fabrication, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe and building and bridge parts using gas and/or electric welding equipment as specified by layout. All duties will be performed at construction site. Requirements

  • Practice safety rules.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Safe use of hand & power tools.
  • Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
  • Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
  • Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
  • Must work well as part of a team.
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in Welding.
  • Post-offer craft test, drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, background check, and training courses.
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Must undergo background check
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
  • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials.
  • It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs.
  • Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit and weld fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe and building and bridge parts using gas and/or electric welding equipment as specified by layout.
  • Select torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, or electrode according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal
  • Connect regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders and to welding torch
  • Turn regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame, based on knowledge of gas-welding techniques
  • Hold torch at proper angle to metal and guide along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
  • May preheat work piece with torch
  • May layout, position and tack weld work pieces
  • May weld along vertical or overhead weld lines
  • May scarf or groove weld prior to applying filled metal, using gas-welding equipment
  • May chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter
  • May clean or degrease parts, using a wire brush or portable grinder
  • May cut metal plates or structural shapes using gas torch
  • May be required to pass start tests to meet certification standard of government agencies or professional associations
  • Plan layout, assembly and welding.
  • Lay out, position, align and fit components together.
  • Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts.
  • Assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Weld pipe, sheet metal, structural steel, brackets or other materials.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
  • Use cutting torch to cut materials and demo existing assemblies
