The Specialty Coatings Technical Service Representative will support Gemini’s sales team to increase gross profit dollars year after year by utilizing our innovative coating solutions, professionalism, and technical expertise. Under the direction of the Director of Specialty Coatings, this position collaborates closely with the sales team, international division, and laboratory to support product implementations, training, troubleshooting, color matching, and customer product performance requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining and expanding customer relationships to drive profitability in alignment with objectives established by the National and Regional Sales Managers.

Requirements

  • Ability to work math problems with percentages and ratios.
  • Strong knowledge of the metric system for conversion.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the differences in products and applications.
  • This position requires a strong ability to apply coatings through various types of equipment, e.g. standard spray guns, pressure pots, AAA pumps, airless pumps, etc.
  • Knowledge about a vast array of coatings used throughout the woodworking industry, e.g. Nitro, Precat, CV, Urethane, UV and Waterborne.
  • Have a familiarity with testing parameters such as KCMA, AWI, ASTM, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate well with others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to routinely travel throughout the US and Europe. Domestic travel 2 to 4 weeks/month, travel to Europe 1-2 weeks/year.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in coatings and application related field
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work in office, laboratory, manufacturing, and customer environments.
  • Occasional lifting or movement of materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands for handling laboratory equipment and tools.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Ability to travel as required to customer sites, suppliers, and company facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate immediate concerns or issues pertaining to product performance, or customers’ needs.
  • Communicate product development needs and coating performance requirements.
  • Verify coating parameters are met through application and proper physical test requirements.
  • Provide training and education on coating performance and application.
  • Assist the sales team in generating new and repeat sales of assigned customers and/or territories by providing product and technical information in a timely manner.
  • Keep detailed records and maintenance of all TDS/SDS.
  • Maintain Website updates.
  • Technical assistance with sales reps and technical assistance with customers. This includes OEM Accounts, Industrial Distribution, and Trade Distribution.
  • Plan, organize, and set up the daily, weekly & monthly schedule for his/her time spent in the field and lab.
  • Regularly monitors progress against set goals and formulates and executes plans to ensure goals are met or exceeded.
  • Good ability to learn and implement color software
