About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, Violence Intervention Specialist to join our team! The Violence Intervention Specialist conducts street outreach in targeted community settings where violent incidents are prevalent. Violence Intervention Specialists play a crucial role in preventing and mitigating violent incidents within high-risk areas of Louisville. By leveraging credibility and a deep understanding of the community, they actively engage with individuals involved in conflicts, providing de-escalation, mediation, and resources. Requirements

  • Previous work with high- risk individuals and in-depth knowledge of the targeted area.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which could include evenings and weekends to accommodate programming requirements and needs of participants.
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to use Salesforce and computer software programs and/or other applications.
  • Must have an assertive personality, outstanding oral and written communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of diverse people.

Responsibilities

  • Violence Intervention Specialist provides outreach in targeted areas of the Louisville community to prevent firearm-related interpersonal violence and retaliation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with high-risk individuals by participating in shooting responses and providing immediate support.
  • Identify potential conflicts and proactively intervene to prevent violence.
  • Employ effective de-escalation techniques and facilitate mediation between conflicting parties.
  • Identify and connect high-risk individuals with Outreach Case Coordinators and/or Community Health Workers for comprehensive support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
