About The Position

Provides Operational Readiness leadership across a sub-portfolio of investments or single critical investment. Supports the Surface Production team in execution of Operational Readiness within the broader region or portfolio. In this role, you will:

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering and potash operational experience is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License is required.
  • Strong understanding of operational systems, risk management processes, workflows and handover requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Operational Readiness activities in complex project or operational environments.
  • Ability to verify construction methodologies and provide informed discipline engineering guidance.
  • Skilled at engaging, influencing and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, with evidence‑based decision‑making skills.
  • Effective planner and organizer, able to manage schedules, milestones and competing priorities.
  • Experienced in applying governance, assurance and Management of Change processes.
  • Collaborative team member with the ability to coordinate specialized Operational Readiness resources.
  • Adaptable, detail‑oriented and committed to delivering safe, compliant and value‑focused outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Operational Readiness leadership for a major investment or sub‑portfolio within the Surface Production team.
  • Develop and optimize asset and maintenance strategies to drive continuous improvement and replication of best practices.
  • Build and manage operational readiness plans, schedules, training requirements, and handover processes aligned with BHP standards.
  • Apply strong knowledge of operational systems, workflows, risk handover, and compliance standards to prepare assets for safe, reliable operations.
  • Verify construction methodologies and support engineering decisions in alignment with Project, Construction and Commissioning Engineering Standards.
  • Identify, engage and manage diverse internal and external stakeholders to enable effective execution and transition to operations.
  • Assess risks, apply BHP’s risk management framework, and contribute to a strong risk‑aware culture.
  • Plan, track and manage operational readiness scope, ensuring costs and schedules are embedded in project master plans.
  • Provide governance, assurance and Management of Change support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure operational inputs, value drivers and trade‑offs are incorporated into project design, decision‑making and Value Optimization processes.
  • Coordinate and manage Operational Readiness resources to maintain progress against project or portfolio schedules.
  • Work LocationThis position is based at our Jansen Mine Site in Leroy, SK, offering a rotational schedule of 4 days on followed by 3 days off. For those not living locally, BHP provides relocation assistance to the local Jansen area. Alternatively, you can enjoy the convenience and comfort of our onsite camp accommodation at Discovery Lodge during your shifts.
