About The Position

University Outreach and Engagement seeks a Research Specialist to lead and support research initiatives focused on Tribal early childhood education. The successful candidate will collaborate with Tribal communities to develop culturally grounded preschool curricula, train Tribal preschool teachers on curriculum implementation, and conduct education research. Additional responsibilities include refining and testing research measures, implementing Classroom Assessment Scoring System observations, analyzing data, and disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and community outreach. The Tribal Early Childhood Education will report to the Native American Institute Director and to the Director for Community Partnerships in the Office for Public Engagement and Scholarship. This position is a one-year fixed-term position with consideration for renewal based on performance and funding. Requirements

  • Doctorate -Psychology or a related field (e.g., Education, Human Development)
  • 5+ years conducting Tribal early childhood education research.
  • 3+ years developing culturally grounded Tribal preschool curriculum.
  • At least 1 year of Classroom Assessment Scoring System certification and coding experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Tribal communities.
  • Experience training and supporting Tribal preschool teachers.
  • A cover letter summarizing experience and qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams on grant-funded projects to advance research on Tribal early childhood education.
  • Develop, refine, and test culturally grounded preschool curricula in partnership with Tribal communities.
  • Train Tribal preschool teachers on curriculum implementation and provide ongoing support.
  • Implement and oversee classroom observation protocols, including the Classroom Assessment Scoring System.
  • Assist program staff in gathering child assessment and classroom observation data.
  • Assist research teams with the analysis of data.
  • Prepare dissemination materials, including manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and community reports.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams and Tribal partners to ensure culturally responsive practices.
  • Collaborate with NAI and research teams to strengthen and maintain existing relationships with Tribal community partners.
  • Collaborate with NAI and research teams to build new relationships with Tribal community partners.
  • Collaborate with NAI and research teams to develop dissemination products for Tribal community partners.
