About The Position

The Project Specialist is responsible for providing support to Project Advisors and Project Portfolio Managers to ensure successful implementation of operations that meet APL Logistics and customer expectations. The position will perform project administrative tasks such as maintaining schedules, scope documents, risk registers, and others, along with facilitating working sessions of different people in the support of the project. In the position the leadership of low complexity, low risk projects may be assigned, but under the guidance of a senior colleague. In this position the person will be in a continuous learning mode taking fundamental project management courses and demonstrating applied knowledge post training. A Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification is expected to be obtained within 2-3 years based on the person's current project management resume. In preparing for the PMP® a certification in Agile project management will also be a requirement. Experience: General Experience Experience in the supply chain and logistics industry, with a strong knowledge in international logistics service areas The typical starting salary range for this position is : $59,220 - $84,600 The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits. Remote work requires full compliance with company policies, including workspace standards, timekeeping, and communication protocols. Commuting costs are not reimbursed. Adherence to this policy is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Project Reporting and Review Obtain and make updates to activities within project plans.
  • Gather and report project costs and compare against budgeted amounts.
  • Administration & Document Preparation Documenting business requirements during joint planning sessions.
  • Facilitate general project meetings based on the project manager's needs.
  • Maintain a risk registry & issues list.
  • Project Management Take on lower complexity and less risk projects develop skills and experience in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Review all project work with a project/portfolio manager for feedback and take appropriate actions to adjust to approach
  • Personal Capability Building Build a project management resume based on the Project Management Institutes (PMI®) guidelines.
  • Build a tracking tool to verify project management experience for approval to take the PMP® exam.
  • Complete all required functional training in cost, schedule, risk, communications, scope, and other project management knowledge areas.
  • Apply knowledge learned in training to APLL project management areas, and review with a project/portfolio manager how the knowledge has gained experience.
  • Prepare for and pass the PMP® exam.
  • Become Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM®) certified.
