About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! This role is a Production Control, Inventory & Logistics Specialist for a new advanced hardware program at Blue Origin. Unlike a typical production control role operating in a mature factory, this position will help stand up the material flow and inventory infrastructure from the ground up — designing receiving and kitting processes, establishing WIP tracking, building floor stock strategies, and creating the production control rhythms that a scaling factory depends on. The successful candidate will coordinate the controlled flow of materials and services across multiple manufacturing value streams including machining, welding, assembly, and post-processing. As the program transitions from prototype through development to rate production, this role ensures the right material is in the right place at the right time — and that every transaction is tracked, reconciled, and visible.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in production control, inventory management, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) systems and ERP-based work order management
  • Experience with activities related to production planning, scheduling, or material coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of material (BOMs)
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles — cycle counting, material transactions, floor stock management, and WIP tracking
  • Experience working cross-functionally with production, quality, procurement, and engineering teams
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); strong Excel skills for tracking and analysis
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Technology, Business, or related discipline
  • Experience standing up production control processes for a new program or new facility — not just maintaining an existing system
  • Experience in aerospace, turbomachinery, or precision industrial hardware manufacturing
  • Knowledge of backflush processes and consumption-based material management
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools: Lean, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, 5S, and kaizen
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Plex, or similar in a manufacturing context
  • Experience with receiving inspection coordination and supplier delivery management
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or equivalent quality management systems as they relate to material traceability and lot control
  • Strong math and analytical skills for inventory reconciliation and shortage analysis

Responsibilities

  • Standing up the production control and inventory management infrastructure for a new manufacturing facility — receiving workflows, stockroom layout, WIP staging areas, kitting processes, and material flow paths
  • Evaluating the manufacturing schedule and coordinating material availability to meet build requirements across prototype, development, and production hardware
  • Preparing and releasing work orders based on the master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements; reconciling and closing orders upon completion
  • Providing detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and constraints to production leadership and program scheduling
  • Implementing material stocking strategies on production lines — monitoring, controlling, and maintaining proper floor stock levels; serving as custodian of inventory accuracy
  • Scheduling and expediting the movement of parts via move orders, stock transfers, and shipping requests across work centers and between facilities
  • Working cross-functionally with procurement, receiving, quality, and production to expedite material shortages and resolve part discrepancies
  • Monitoring the flow and velocity of jobs through the production line; partnering with production supervisors to ensure work completes on time to schedule
  • Entering material transactions in the ERP system — receipts, issues, transfers, scrap, and consumption; maintaining transaction accuracy and audit trail
  • Monitoring the disposition velocity of MRB and stranded material; coordinating with quality to clear hold inventory
  • Preparing for, conducting, and reconciling cycle counts; investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
  • Processing scrap and obsolete inventory from WIP locations as required; maintaining clean and accurate inventory records
  • Coordinating interdepartmental activity with warehouse, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, logistics, and program management

Benefits

  • Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
  • Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
  • Dependent on role type and job level, employees may be eligible for benefits and bonuses based on the company's intent to reward individual contributions and enable them to share in the company's results, or other factors at the company's sole discretion.
  • Bonus amounts and eligibility are not guaranteed and subject to change and cancellation.
