About The Position

The installation and maintenance of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data and/or video formats. The installation and repair of voice, video and data cabling. Additional Work Days/Hours Based on the assignment, the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed: Ability to work flexible schedules Emergencies Evenings/Nights Extended hours Holidays On call Outside of normal business hours Overtime as needed Summer hours Weekends

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Two (2) years professional work experience as a network engineer required.
  • One (1) year experience in routing, switching and wireless technologies required; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
  • Upon hire, Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and Daily access to reliable transportation.
  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification issued by Cisco preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, tests, maintains and upgrades network operating systems hardware and software.
  • Performs installation and maintenance of routers, switches, wireless devices, and other networking hardware.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots network equipment and performance using management software and tools.
  • Performs troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of voice, video, and data infrastructure.
  • Surveys for new data, voice, and coax cable requests.
  • Test and sign-off on completed data, voice, and coax cable requests.
  • Manages work tickets and trouble requests using workflow software.
  • Ensures the rigorous application of information security/assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of networking services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
