About The Position

Position Overview:The primary responsibility of the Specialist – K-9 is to work with an assigned trained dog to provide support for Security Department operations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Patrol and inspect assigned areas as directed, and take appropriate actions to maintain the safety and security of the property. Execute emergency response procedures as directed by Security Management. Maintain a visible profile among guests and Team Members to deter potential problems and maintain an environment of safety and security. Assist with regular Security operations as appropriate and/or necessary per Security Management. Provide crowd control and monitor access during special events. Recognize and pass on important information which must be reported to the K-9 Training Supervisor and/or K-9 Lead, including status updates, operational or personnel challenges, and important events. Attend regularly scheduled training assigned by the K-9 Training Supervisor and/or the K-9 Lead. Additional Duties & Responsibilities: Maintain daily and weekly training records for their dogs and have it presented to the K-9 Training Supervisor for inspection. Responsible for the feeding and housing of his or her K-9 Partner at their residence. Maintain and clean K-9 Partner’s kennel and break areas while on property. Act as an agitator when involving the Dual Purpose K-9’s during bite training. Safety is an essential function of this job. Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

21 years of age.
Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License, Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Nevada Gaming Control Board registration, and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
Maintain certification in company-provided Controlled FORCE training, CPR/First Aid training, and other relevant training at the discretion of the K-9 Training Supervisor.
Prior experience in civilian or military law enforcement, casino/hotel security, or industrial security.
Must be able to occasionally work outside of normal work hours in order to accommodate training or other specific needs, such as when the dog is needed for a specific reason.
Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
Must successfully attend and pass a company-sponsored K-9 training course, which will require the K-9 Specialist to travel out of state for up to six weeks or longer.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to:Lift or carry 90 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity required.
Physically able to control the actions of the K-9 in all stressful/ non-stressful environments.
Touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
Maintain adequate living conditions for an assigned K-9 Partner, and submit to inspections of the home at the discretion of Security Management.
Maintain a safe, clean, and reliable transportation suitable for a K-9 Partner.

Prior experience with K-9 handling preferred.
