About The Position

Responsible for purchasing irrigation inventory for stock and supporting the Irrigation team on project-related material needs. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, strategic vendor partnerships, and efficient SKU management to support operational and project success.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control or similar functions, preferably in an agricultural setting.
  • Minimum High School or GED or other related field Preferred 2-year associate degree in business or a related field Combination of education and/or work experience will be considered
  • Required a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to handle numerous and challenging telephone and written instructions
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook to communicate internally and with vendors
  • Ability to create reports and analyze data for trends and opportunities
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires effective and frequent interaction on an individual and group basis.
  • Possesses knowledge of manufacturing tools and irrigation equipment
  • Ability to handle numerous and challenging telephone and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Possesses familiarity with grower and irrigation project operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the procurement function for irrigation stock, advising sales and design teams on pricing strategies, vendor positioning, and SKU optimization
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and programs with vendors to secure competitive cost advantages and strengthen strategic partnerships
  • Monitor inventory levels across all locations and determine appropriate purchase order quantities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the Irrigation Department, providing guidance on materials, vendors, and category strategy
  • Recommend SKU consolidations, reductions, and additions to improve category efficiency and overall inventory performance
  • Evaluate vendor performance and recommend changes or consolidations to strengthen buying power and strategic partnerships
  • Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and develop action plans with vendors and/or the Irrigation Department to reduce or eliminate excess stock
  • Coordinate with Purchasing Coordinators at Operations Centers to ensure irrigation project needs are aligned with stock levels
  • Review open purchase orders, resolve exceptions, and process credits, returns, and price corrections for assigned vendors
  • Collaborate closely with management and supervisors to support the needs of the Irrigation Division
  • Partner with Accounts Payable and Operations teams to resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies
  • Performs other duties and assists other positions as assigned.
