Installs or repairs single or double door emergency exit devises. Reads and interprets plans to determine emergency access exit route, assesses type of devise approved, measures door width to determine device requirement type and complete installation Determines personnel access priority for duplication key orders. Identifies blank type, bevels or prepares key for duplication. Cuts key and remove burrs to finish Coordinates Best lock for restrictive access/high risk or new installation lock requirements. Determines lock application, procures materials, prepares wood door surfaces and key and completes installation Determines re-keying of locks by wafer or tumbler mechanism, changes depths of key cuts; finishes cutting replacement keys for all interior and exterior non-emergency exit doors Installs, repairs and replaces sidebar devices for restricting access to storage areas, file cabinets and desks New inside/outside door installations, bores holes with drill for strike plate and handle/lock. Inspects damages from vandalism to door device, assesses needed repairs for removal and replacement of damaged lock Maintains all assigned locksmith logs, key machine and pick tools Completes documentation associated for key codes, key assignments logs, and manufacturer's key code printouts Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles as assigned daily, inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicle as required Follow District safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as need for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned, at all times Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, work order completion, project orders, manufacture's technical data sheets, material safety data sheets, and other Maintenance records Report observed maintenance problems that require action of other Maintenance departments Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project Employee may be required to respond to after hour/emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out rotation, and flex work hours to accommodate job completions Comply with District policies and procedures Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate
