About The Position

The AUV Field Engineer – Field Service Representatives (FSR) are responsible for the operation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and supported auxiliary equipment. Key responsibilities include (1) operation of AUV in complex working environments/conditions including commercial and military vessels, (2) troubleshooting/maintenance/repair of electrical, mechanical, and software sensors/systems/subsystems associated with the AUV, (3) working directly with Customers to provide on-site support as a subject matter expert (SME) for hands-on / on-site training, acceptance testing, troubleshooting/maintenance/repair, risk mitigation, and supporting overall program/project objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, OR (Preferred) 8+ years of technical experience in a relevant field (US Navy ET, ST, MN, EM ratings or commercial maritime electronics). Gradudate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Active SECRET clearance required.
  • Must be physically able to work on swaying vessel decks, in confined spaces, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Experience with software communication and networking protocols, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams layouts, and mechanical drawing understanding.
  • Demonstrated basic seamanship skills (knot tying, line handling, deck safety) and ability to maintain situational awareness on active vessel decks.
  • Ability to travel (US and International) approximately: 60%.

Nice To Haves

  • US Navy background or experience working as a defense contractor alongside military personnel.
  • Commercial maritime experience (deckhand, mate, or technician).
  • IPC-610/620 Soldering or Cabling certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support deck operations, including small boat handling, line handling, and operating Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) from RHIBs and naval vessels.
  • Perform mechanical assembly/disassembly of AUV modules and seal integrity checks.
  • Planning and validating basic to complex mission planning & flight behaviors
  • Provide technical assistance outside normal business hours via phone/email/remote desktop sessions
  • Maintaining and developing AUV product documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Develop and verify customer specifications, conduct operator training, and actively participate as an L3Harris AUV System field service representative during demonstrations and field exercises with existing and potential new customers.
  • Field exercises may be for up to 6 weeks.
  • Interface with customers on behalf of L3Harris AUV Systems Engineering and Program Management teams.
