About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Facilities Engineering, RC-135 HVAC and Ground Support Systems for our site at Kadena AB, Okinawa Japan, to provide maintenance and sustainment of specialized aircraft cooling and ground equipment to support the U.S. Air Force’s RC-135 mission. The equipment may be deployed worldwide, sometimes operating under extreme weather conditions and demand for the equipment to operate at peak performance. This position will be permanently located at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. Selected candidate will be required to relocate immediately after hire.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of experience in refrigeration evacuating/ recharging and procedures as well as soldering/brazing using Oxy/Acetylene torch/welding.
  • Graduate Degree with two (2) experience in refrigeration evacuating/recharging and procedures as well as soldering/brazing using Oxy/Acetylene torch/welding.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) experience in refrigeration evacuating/recharging and procedures as well as soldering/brazing using Oxy/Acetylene torch/welding.
  • Must have an active Secret DoD Clearance at the time of hire.
  • 2 years’ experience operating and sustaining RC-135 ground support equipment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a technical training course in: Theory of refrigeration, Diesel Engines, or auto mechanic repairs.
  • Knowledge of variable frequency motor drives.
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration certificate.
  • Forklift license.
  • Air Force HVAC or Aerospace Ground Equipment experience or qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain location’s capability to locally support unique RC-135 ground support equipment.
  • Perform unscheduled and preventative maintenance on various equipment, to include Air Conditioning and Liquid Cooling Carts, Diesel driven generators, Aerospace Ground Equipment and accompanying support systems.
  • Routine air conditioning and fuel filter changes, engine oil changes.
  • Maintenance, upkeep, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replacement of failed components.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, trend problems, and anticipate future needs.
  • Provide training in proper operation of cooling carts and generators.
  • Monitor/evaluate equipment performance with a laptop computer via interface software.
  • Maintain sufficient supplies to carry out anticipated/scheduled maintenance.
  • Reconfigure/modify equipment as required using maintenance bulletins.
  • Electrical knowledge of voltages up to 480VAC 60Hz along with control voltages up to 24VDC.
  • Working extended and non-standard hours when required.
  • Ability to lift, up to 50 lbs. up to 5% of the time.
  • Ability to climb ladders daily.
  • Worldwide deployable with the ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
