About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Facilities Engineer at the Orange, VA site. Our site is near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC)! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs. Under minimal supervision, conceives and plans a variety of complex facilities engineering projects, providing technical advice on feasibility, planning, costs, and time requirements. Coordinate, manage, follow-up and close-out capital projects. Acts as a technical adviser and expert on building HVAC system design, control systems, operations, and maintenance. Ensures that work performed by the Company’s personnel or contractors conforms to national, state and local laws, regulations and codes. This position will support facilities projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Construction Management or Civil Engineering and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communications skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
  • Experience managing small to mid-scale construction or facilities projects.
  • Familiarity with facility infrastructure systems (HVAC, electrical, controls, mechanical)
  • Familiarity with CAD (AutoCAD or similar) for reviewing/design coordination.
  • Project Management experience or certification (e.g., PMI/PMP).
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or highly regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance to capture requirements and translate into project scopes and deliverables.
  • Work with external designers/A&E teams to ensure requirements are reflected in drawings and specifications
  • Support contractor selection and management — RFI responses, submittals, change orders, and quality inspections.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; conduct status meetings and provide updates across stakeholders.
  • Prepare cost estimates, scopes of work, and capital expenditure requests.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and standards throughout design and construction.
