About The Position

The Specialist, Community Content & Impact is a key storyteller and strategist responsible for managing and communicating Giant Food's community relations initiatives. This role focuses on developing a robust content and reporting framework that showcases our commitment to being a better neighbor. The ideal candidate will be an expert in community content management, linking strategy, and thought leadership, responsible for producing the Better Neighbor Report, community wellbeing report, maintaining Community Boards and well-being reports, and representing the Giant Food brand at community events, re-grand openings and activations and ribbon ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
  • Non-profit organization or in a community relations
  • Demonstrated experience in social media management and writing for digital platforms, particularly LinkedIn and Press Release
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
  • A genuine passion for community engagement and corporate social responsibility

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy for Giant Food's community channels, with a primary focus on LinkedIn and other relevant platforms.
  • Author and post compelling thought leadership content on behalf of the Giant Food brand, positioning the company as an authority and leader in community well-being.
  • Create and manage a content calendar that highlights community activities, activations, events, and giving initiatives.
  • Lead the project management, development, and maintenance of the annual Better Neighbor Report, working cross-functionally to gather data and craft the narrative of Giant's social responsibility efforts.
  • Develop and maintain the Community Boards and ongoing community well-being reports, tracking key metrics and providing insights into the impact of our programs.
  • Maintain a centralized and accurate record of all community giving, sponsorships, and charitable activities for reporting and analysis.
  • Design and implement a LinkedIn strategy to connect community content across various digital platforms, enhancing visibility and creating a cohesive brand narrative.
  • Serve as a primary brand ambassador and representative for Giant Food at community activities, activations, and events.
  • Develop targeted media pitches and coordinate with media contacts to secure favorable coverage for community and charitable work.
  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications team to share community giving stories and program updates with associates across all internal channels.
  • Support the planning and execution of key community programs, including store Grand Openings, Re-Grand Openings, food bank donations, and cause marketing campaigns, fundraiser 2.0.
  • Work in partnership with the social community management agency to ensure consistent messaging and engagement on community-related topics.
  • Review and vet incoming donations and sponsorship requests, presenting recommendations that align with Giant's four strategic giving pillars.
