Operating Engineer - JLL What this job involves: Join our healthcare facilities team as an Specialist, Engineering Services where you'll play a critical role in maintaining the essential systems that keep healthcare environments running safely and efficiently. This position involves electrical installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment and controls, plumbing system management, and mechanical/electrical operating equipment oversight. You'll conduct routine assessments of building systems operations, perform diagnostic tests, and analyze data to ensure proper functioning of all departmental equipment. Your expertise directly contributes to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services in mission-critical healthcare environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state equivalent required
  • Minimum two years of related trade schooling or two years of college education
  • Minimum four years' experience in electrician trade, HVAC/refrigeration, or emergency backup systems (generators, UPS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet and lift 60 lbs repeatedly
  • Ability to visually inspect machinery and buildings, including getting on hands and knees for equipment inspections
  • Must consistently receive "meets expectations" job performance review (for internal candidates)
  • This position requires on-call availability

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems operations
  • Perform preventive maintenance on base building and critical system equipment with minimal disruption to operations
  • Install and repair plumbing, piping, tubing, and wire single and three-phase motors while running conduit and pulling wiring
  • Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water-cooling, air-conditioning equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and filters
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls throughout healthcare facilities
  • Maintain accurate logs, document equipment repairs, close work orders, and provide timely communication with management
  • Complete specialized tasks including painting, carpentry, and medical equipment repair under specific infection control conditions
