About The Position

Specialist, Construction Projects and Center Improvement is responsible for supporting the organizations overall construction life cycle process for both land and ship-based center locations as well as the multi-year project pipeline. The role will also support center enhancement projects and customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • 3-5 years work experience in a program support or construction role.
  • Ability and willingness to work non-standard work hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment.
  • General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
  • Must be punctual, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational and constituent needs.
  • Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid drivers license.
  • Must be a strong advocate of the USOs mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
  • Interior design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • As directed by leadership, support full life cycle of construction process for new centers (including ship-based centers), center refurbishments, and renovations across the organization.
  • Support center enhancement projects including furniture replacement and overall look and feel in accordance with the USOs design principles.
  • Document and track customer experience enhancements in accordance with USO design principles and impact data.
  • Organize and track development of multi-year pipeline of facilities projects, including planned new locations, renovations and refurbishments across the organization.
  • Oversee standardized process, policies and templates for the project lifecycle, to include design and look/feel to enhance customer experience.
  • Review, research, and provide administrative support for Construction Business Cases for new centers, refurbishments, and renovations; provide guidance on budgeting and timeline.
  • Support execution of MOAs/MOUs.
  • Support accounting requirements for associated vendors including Construction Firm, Architect, and MEP for all projects.
  • Support procurement requisitions for construction projects, including necessary contracts, quotes and competitive bids.
  • As directed, support construction project procurement process and ensure that design and furniture/equipment purchases are in line with USO Center Guidelines.
  • Facilitate communication flow between Construction Firm, General Contractors, Vendors and USO Regional/Local teams where project is located.
  • Other duties as assigned.
