The Specialist Behavior, ESE role involves providing direct instructional and behavioral assistance to teachers and assistants within the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) team. Key responsibilities include evaluating functional behavior assessments, guiding Individual Educational Plan (IEP) teams in developing positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) and functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and collaborating with teachers to design and implement individual behavior systems for ESE students. The specialist will also provide staff development on behavioral intervention strategies, assist with data collection and behavioral observations, and perform Medicaid administrative claims activities. Additionally, the role supports general education teachers with modifications, accommodations, and instructional techniques for ESE students, facilitates social skills instruction, assists with short-term crisis management, and acts as a liaison and advocate for ESE students. Maintaining current certification in de-escalation and physical intervention techniques is required. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in education, a valid Florida teaching certificate in ESE, and three years of highly effective/effective experience in teaching or working in ESE.
