About The Position

We are seeking a Scientist II who is passionate about developing complex in vitro microphysiological organ-on-chip systems (MPS) and bioprinted models for drug discovery and development. In this role, the scientist will perform hands-on experimentation and provide support to advance the team’s biofabrication efforts. This position is based on-site in Cambridge, MA, supporting day-to-day laboratory workflows and assisting with model development within a collaborative research environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree preferred. (B.S./B.A. in Bioengineering, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Cell & Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field with minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or Master’s Degree)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
  • Experience preparing and handling biomaterials or hydrogels for 3D culture applications.
  • Experience working with MPS models, bioprinted platforms, or other 3D cell culture technologies.
  • Familiarity with basic microscopy techniques for assessing cell health and experimental progress.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accurate documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute experimental protocols and work with collaborators.
  • Ability to work on-site, follow established protocols, and meet deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to learn new workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with stem cell culture or differentiation workflows.
  • Experience with stem cell-derived organoid models.
  • Experience working with MIMETAS organ-on-chip, or similar high throughput, platform.
  • Experience working in pharmaceutical drug discovery or development.
  • Data analysis experience using Matlab, R, and/or Python.
  • Experience with nucleofection.

Responsibilities

  • Support the biofabrication and maintenance of microphysiological systems and bioprinted models.
  • Perform routine mammalian cell culture while maintaining a high level of aseptic technique.
  • Prepare and handle hydrogels/ECM for use in 3D culture (MPS and bioprinted) platforms.
  • Assist in immunofluorescence staining, imaging, and analysis workflows.
  • Reconstitute, aliquot, and prepare reagents and media.
  • Execute multi-step experimental protocols and workflows.
  • Document experimental procedures, observations, and results in electronic lab notebook.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and general lab maintenance.
  • Support both general and project-specific laboratory operations as project needs evolve.
  • Collaborate across different functional teams/locations.
