About The Position

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service. Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a temporary Special Projects Senior Composite Technician. In this role, you will play a crucial role in performing composite layup operations to manufacture high-quality composite parts. The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience and possess advanced abilities and demonstrated expertise in material placement, orientation, and consolidation techniques. High proficiency in performing vacuum bagging and curing operations are also required for this role. As a Senior Composite Technician, you will not only be responsible for executing complex part builds with precision but will also train and mentor other technicians. Your extensive knowledge and experience in composite layup operations will be invaluable in guiding and supporting the professional development of your colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform composite layup operations with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Utilize your expertise in material placement, orientation, and consolidation to achieve the desired mechanical properties and part dimensions.
  • Execute vacuum bagging, debulking, and curing operations with proficiency, ensuring proper consolidation, and curing of composite parts.
  • Train and mentor other technicians. Sharing your knowledge and skills to help them enhance their composite layup abilities.
  • Lead complex part builds, taking charge of planning, organizing, and coordinating the layup process to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to interpret specifications and engineering drawings, ensuring adherence to the required standards.
  • Conduct quality inspections and perform necessary tests to verify compliance with specifications and identify any defects or irregularities.
