About The Position

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc. (GACC South) is a private, non-profit organization and the official representative of German industry and trade in the Southern United States. Our mission is to promote and support bilateral trade between Germany and the United States by assisting companies, institutions, and public stakeholders in cross-border business activities. We are seeking a highly motivated, full-time Intern – Special Projects to work directly with the Director on strategic, cross-functional initiatives. This role offers hands-on exposure to opportunity assessment, strategy development, and project execution in an international business environment. Location: Atlanta, GA, USA Start Date: As soon as possible Duration: Full-time, compensated internship Role Description As an Intern – Special Projects, you will collaborate closely with the Director and senior stakeholders to develop, validate, and execute strategic initiatives that support GACC South’s mission and long-term objectives. This role goes beyond traditional internship tasks and is designed for candidates who are eager to take ownership of projects, work independently, and contribute directly to organizational innovation and growth. Projects may include new service offerings, digital process improvements, federally funded initiatives, educational or training formats, and strategic market or industry-focused initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in business, economics, international relations, or a related field
  • Strong ability to structure complex topics and translate them into actionable plans
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
  • High level of professionalism and comfort interacting with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based and international (including virtual) environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or strong interest in strategy development, innovation, or special project work
  • Basic programming or technical skills (e.g., scripting, data handling, automation)
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or workflow automation tools
  • Exposure to curriculum design, training development, or blended learning formats
  • Working knowledge of the German language
  • International experience (studies abroad, work, or extensive travel)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and initiative

Responsibilities

  • Working directly with the Director to identify, validate, and assess new business, program, or partnership opportunities
  • Developing project concepts, strategies, timelines, and implementation plans
  • Supporting the execution and monitoring of special projects from concept through delivery
  • Preparing presentations, reports, and decision briefs for internal leadership and external stakeholders
  • Conducting market, stakeholder, and feasibility analyses to support strategic decision-making
  • Coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery
  • Supporting the development of innovative formats, such as digital services, pilot programs, or educational offerings
  • Assisting with process optimization, documentation, and internal knowledge transfer
  • Contributing to selected consulting, delegation, or event-related initiatives as needed
