About The Position

The laboratory of Dr. Jay W. Schneider is seeking a highly motivated translational/basic research scientist to join our team at Mayo Clinic Florida as we build the new Myocardiolongevity Program. Our work focuses on cardiovascular health, disease, and healthy aging, particularly age related myocardial amyloid and calcium biomineral deposition, as well as multiomics analysis of cardiomyocytes isolated from autopsy donor centenarian hearts.

Requirements

  • A background in molecular biology or related biomedical sciences, with enthusiasm for geroscience, healthy aging, and longevity medicine, or an eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical & Regulatory Support – Assist with IRB submissions and extract research insights from detailed centenarian clinical records.
  • Laboratory Research – Conduct advanced wet lab experiments, including biomineralization assays, immunohistochemistry, SDS PAGE and immunoblotting, confocal microscopy, and work closely with institutional multiomics cores.
  • Data Analysis & Visualization – Apply bioinformatics, computational modeling, and statistical methods; partner with AI driven tools to interpret and visualize complex datasets.
  • Scientific Communication – Contribute to manuscript writing, grant preparation, and the creation of high-quality figures and graphics for presentations and publications.
