About The Position

Join a 234-bed acute care facility in Hermitage, Tennessee (Nashville area), recognized as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI and Primary Stroke Center. This Special Procedures Technologist position performs cardiovascular and peripheral angiographic studies in a leading provider of emergency heart and stroke care. The role offers Monday-Friday schedule (6:00 AM-4:30 PM) with 4 ten-hour shifts and rotating call coverage (8-10 days per month). The facility provides comprehensive services including cardiology, emergency, oncology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, and women's services. Cross-training in cardiac cath lab is available for career growth. Requirements

  • Current license or registry from accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Certification through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)]
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Special Procedures, Cath Lab, or EP Lab
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) training required within 6 months of hire
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact successfully with patients, guests, physicians, and staff
  • Availability for Monday-Friday schedule (6:00 AM-4:30 PM) with rotating call coverage
  • Willingness to cross-train in cardiac cath lab

Nice To Haves

  • Neuro interventional radiology experience
  • Previous on-call experience in special procedures or cath lab
  • Advanced cardiovascular imaging certifications

Responsibilities

  • Scrub and assist interventional physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies.
  • Set up sterile trays and maintain sterile field according to hospital protocol and infection control standards.
  • Record and monitor cardiovascular cases while understanding hemodynamic measurements and valve area readings.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform contrast media administration according to age-specific and weight-specific guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of drugs including actions, side effects, and contraindications for administration.
  • Start and maintain IV access for contrast administration and medication delivery during procedures.
  • Accurately follow physician orders, document exam completion in Meditech, scan documents, and verify images in PACS.
  • Properly measure and dispose of radioactive waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients served.
  • Provide high-quality patient care throughout cardiovascular and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Respond to on-call coverage (8-10 days per month) for emergent cases and after-hours procedures.
  • Cross-train in cardiac cath lab to support department needs and expand clinical competencies.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
