About The Position

The Special Needs Coordinator oversees the planning, implementation, and supervision of inclusive services and support for campers with disabilities or additional needs. This leadership role ensures that accommodations, staffing, and communication are in place to support a positive and successful camp experience for campers and staff.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as a senior counselor or specialty director at a licensed day or resident camp.
• Experience working with children with disabilities in a leadership or coordination role
• Strong knowledge of inclusion practices and behavior support strategies
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to supervise staff and manage sensitive information

Nice To Haves

• Degree or coursework in special education, psychology, social work, or related field
• Experience in camp, school, or youth program leadership
• First Aid / CPR and relevant certifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inclusion services and support plans for campers with special needs
• Review camper information and develop accommodation strategies
• Supervise and support Special Needs Counselors
• Train staff on inclusion strategies, behavior support, and best practices
• Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding camper support needs
• Collaborate with camp leadership, counselors, and specialists
• Monitor camper progress and adjust supports as needed
• Ensure compliance with camp policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements
• Manage documentation related to inclusion services
