About The Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University invites applications to a job-security track position at the rank of Special Instructor in the broad areas of engineering mechanics/vibrations and controls. The appointment would be effective as early as January 2019 or as late as August 2019. We seek applicants with teaching interests related to some of the following: engineering mechanics – statics and dynamics, mechanics of materials, vibrations and controls, and machine design. An earned Masters or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, strong communications skills, and commitment to excellence in teaching, are required. Prior industrial or teaching experience, is desirable and candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will be expected to teach mechanical engineering courses and laboratories in some of the areas listed above and to work with faculty on course and curriculum development. Service activities are also expected.
