About The Position

The Events Manager is responsible for cultivating, planning and growing new and existing events to support the resort’s overall profitability, occupancy, brand value and visitation goals. The Event Manager oversees resort signature events as well as being the resort’s point of contact for events produced by others. This position includes but is not limited to selling sponsorships, planning, promoting, and coordinating execution in close collaboration with internal and external partners.

Requirements

  • Required software knowledge to include, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and preferred experience with Delphi & SMS Host.
  • Effective business writing skills (grammar, vocabulary, clarity and brevity).
  • Clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to maximize use of time, resources and technology.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills and a solutions-oriented mentality.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the sales/marketing field and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Must possess communication skills including reading contracts, negotiating, selling, and decision-making based on company policies, procedures and core values
  • Maintains office, employee and company confidentiality always.
  • Dependable and meets goals.
  • Exemplifies professional conduct and adherence to company Core Values.
  • Evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.
  • Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
  • An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a hospitality/event related field of study preferred but not required.
  • Two plus years of employment in event sales or other relevant sales positions.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, negotiate, and contract new and repeat special events applying various tactics (e.g. outside sales calls, telemarketing, social media, mailings, referrals, networking, etc.) to identify opportunities and achieve goals.
  • Notify and coordinate customer specifications with other departments and respond to customer requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Develop a marketing strategy, plan events and ensure they run smoothly.
  • Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility for Crystal Mountain.
  • Assist appropriate Department Directors with an annual budget, forecast and potential new events.
  • Work in tandem with resort partners to ensure client information transfer and event execution are seamless to guests.
  • Maintains CRM and market databases and collaborates with Marketing to leverage resort paid media investments and to generate earned media.
  • Attend and participate in event collaboration meetings to discuss operational topics and ideas for new events particularly during lower occupancy periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Solicit sponsorships and partnerships to help fund company events such as (but not limited to) the Michigan PGA Women’s Open, Beer & Brat Festival, March on the Mountain and Labor Day Live.
  • Cultivate and be the resort’s primary point of contact for events produced by others such as Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic, North Mitten Races, Bike Benzie, and Total Archery Challenge.
