Special Education Teacher - Full-time Location: Steger, IL Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS) endorsement Bachelor degree required Job Description Implementing individual education programs Evaluating student progress for students in special education Assessing the special needs of individual students Collaborating with staff in meeting student needs Maintaining appropriate student records Providing instructions to classroom and 1-1 paraprofessionals Engendering a team atmosphere Motivating students through positive feedback based upon their i.e.p.s and school-wide PBIS, if appropriate Participating in district and school committees Maintaining a clean, attractive, and safe learning environment Working with parents to achieve student objectives Attending meetings as required Supervising pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday Participating in curriculum and other developmental programs Participating in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities Maintaining professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities Benefits: Lucrative pay Long-term contract Health/Dental/Vision Insurance is available The principal is well respected and liked
