Requirements
Arizona Teaching Certification
Current Cross-Categorical K-12 and or Mild/Moderate k -12, or Learning Disability K-12, and Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree

Highly qualified preferred and experience working with special education classes or students.
Responsibilities
Develop, write and maintain each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP).
Consult and meet with regular education teachers and staff about the educational accommodation and modifications of students.
Write semester progress reports on each Special Education student in program.
Coordinate and attend Special Education meetings, Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings, Reassessment meetings and Transition meeting where appropriate.
Keep current on Special Education issues and trends and is able to communicate these topics to others.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, and parents regarding student’s progress and/or school expectations.
Make home visits as needed.
Coordinate and provide accommodated state testing for special education students.
Supervise paraprofessionals.
Assist in the development and implementation of behavior management plans.
Organize and/or manage any additional supports and resources deemed necessary.
Assist in the identification and evaluation process of Special Education students according to state and federal guidelines.
Monitor discipline of all Special Education students within their school.
Maintain and ensure that student records are kept in compliance according to State and Federal guidelines. This includes meeting all required due dates.
