About The Position

Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is a public K-12 charter school primarily serving students from the city of Rochester. We are a college preparatory school that uses data-driven instruction to foster student growth. At RACS, we believe that all students have the right to a high-quality education and that restorative practices are essential to a healthy school community. RACS is currently seeking qualified, self-directed, and committed candidates for Anticipated Special Education Teacher positions for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Positions may be available at all grade levels. Continuum of Services includes: Integrated Co-Teaching, Consultant Teaching, Resource Room We are looking for team players who are passionate about urban education and ready to collaborate on curriculum planning and responsive lesson planning practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant content area (Master’s preferred).
  • New York State Teacher Certification is highly preferred. (Candidates with out-of-state certification or in the process of certification will be considered).
  • A commitment to the belief that all students can succeed and an interest in restorative justice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an urban school setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, data-informed differentiated instruction to students on your caseload.
  • Work with the classroom teacher to adapt or create curriculum creatively to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment using restorative practices.
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams and the student support team to monitor student progress.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and mentoring programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with families regarding student achievement and behavior.
