The Special Education Teacher position involves upholding Bright Star Schools’ mission, values, and high standards for student behavior, building positive, restorative relationships, and creating safe, inclusive learning environments. Teachers collaborate with leaders and colleagues, participate in professional development, and support school-wide culture events. Key instructional responsibilities include planning and delivering rigorous, standards-aligned lessons, differentiating instruction for English Learners and students with IEPs, maintaining accurate gradebooks, providing timely feedback, and communicating with families. The role also requires creating a positive classroom culture, implementing school-wide programs, engaging in weekly coaching, and collaborating with the Inclusive Education team. Compliance and instructional responsibilities specific to special education include developing, managing, and upholding IEPs in compliance with state and federal laws, facilitating IEP meetings, tracking services in Welligent, providing progress reports, collaborating with General Education, ELD, and Inclusive Education teams for accommodations and co-teaching, conducting academic assessments (e.g., Woodcock Johnson IV), and supporting student achievement through data-driven instruction, tutoring, and individualized interventions.
