About The Position

As an Instructor at our May Center School in West Springfield or Chicopee you'll be an essential part of our mission to support students ages 3-21 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Developmental and Cognitive Disabilities in achieving their goals and aspirations. While working with students and using the proven methods of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), you’ll be providing compassionate care, facilitating personalized assistance, and engaging in skill-building activities. You’ll help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can grow, thrive, and achieve greater independence. Join us as we make a meaningful difference, one day at a time!

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 1 year of licensed driving experience.
  • Empathy, patience, compassion, and the ability to support children with diverse communication and behavioral needs.
  • 1+ years’ experience with individuals with special needs and/or education in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and ideally experience utilizing ABA while working with children with special needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Teamwork: Partner closely with lead teachers to bring individualized educational plans (IEPs) to life, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
  • Direct Support: Provide hands-on assistance with personal care tasks and expertly manage behavioral crises, offering unwavering support to students during classroom activities to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Positive Communication: Harness the power of positive behavior support strategies to develop essential social skills, enhance communication abilities, and promote independence among students.
  • Supportive Atmosphere: Cultivate a warm, supportive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to embrace their journey of learning and growth
  • Documentation and Reporting: Thoroughly document student progress and maintain open lines of communication with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring everyone is informed and involved in each student's educational journey.
