About The Position

POSITION TITLE: Special Education Paraprofessional QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma Preference may be given to candidates with college credit hours TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part Time Non-Benefitted with Potential to Become Full-Time with Benefits ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of all students. Adequate basic skills in all core academic areas up to a high school graduate level. Implement effective lessons under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher. Ensure that district policies are observed during all activities. Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Perform duties under the direction of the building principal keeping all children closely supervised at all times. Be familiar with, and able to perform, all emergency procedures. Perform office or classroom duties as assigned. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language and behavior. Ability to work with students of various abilities and special needs OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
