About The Position

Special Education Paraprofessional positions are available for the District 54 Extended School Year (ESY) program. Staff orientation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, with students attending June 2, 2026 - July 8, 2026. All Fridays and June 18 and July 2 are non-attendance days. Staff hours for ESY are 8:15am-11:45am. Job description includes : Assist with the supervision and instruction of students under the direction of a licensed teacher in all aspects of the daily program. This may include: classrooms, washrooms, playground, before and after school, loading and unloading of students from buses/ motor vehicles, gymnasiums, libraries, and other educational settings as determined by the classroom teacher and/ or principal. Implement strategies under the guidance of teachers and/or related services staff designed to meet each student’s individual strengths and challenges in relation to learning needs, including academic, social emotional and sensory needs. Implement strategies for managing student behavior as directed which may include: implementing strategies for individual students as directed by a teacher and/ or related service staff, toileting, restraining of a student, Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies Ability and desire to work collaboratively to assist students and teachers Conscientious about attendance and punctuality Know or willingness to learn technology required for students Know or willingness to learn to use appropriate equipment Ability to respect and maintain confidential student and family information

Requirements

  • Is at least 19 years of age and
  • Meet State requirements for Professional Educator License with Stipulations (Paraprofessional ) 1 of the following required : Associate's Degree or higher 60 semester hours of coursework High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS parapro High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT workkeys: Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4) Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)

Responsibilities
