About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an Nurse to provide nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation for routine occupational and non-occupational illness and injuries. Responsible for assessing employees’ physical and mental health and making referrals, if necessary, to physicians and other providers. Responsible for administering and monitoring return to work programs, worker’s compensation case management and tracking, including medical records, individual employee health records, occupational health and safety logs. Works with EHS on investigation and disposition of injuries and employee case management. Oversees the medical emergency response team. Typically has responsibility for one or more special programs (e.g., blood drive, health promotion, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4 years prior experience in Nursing, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 8 years prior experience in Nursing or Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior related experience in Nursing. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Must have active, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York.

Nice To Haves

  • COHN, COHN-S or CM certification
  • Previous experience in an occupational health setting
  • Experience with workers’ compensation and general injury case management
  • Ability to provide emergency treatment for injuries (FA, CPR, AED)
  • Experience with electronic recordkeeping systems
  • Ability to work well with others, including hourly workforce and members of management
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parties external to the organization (e.g., physicians, clinics, workers compensation insurers, vendors, etc.)
  • Proficient with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Edge, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Consult with physicians and outside clinics and labs, perform qualitative respirator fit tests, vision tests, vaccinations, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing
  • Manage worker’s compensation cases, administer and monitor the employee Return to Work Program for work-related injuries
  • Manage medical records, individual employee health records, and occupational health and safety logs
  • Responsible for first aid care, emergency treatment for injuries, general injury case management, and the bloodborne pathogen program
  • Responsible for assessing employees' physical and mental health and making referrals, if necessary, to physicians and other providers
  • Work with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) on injury investigations, chemical exposures, industrial hygiene sampling assessments, and disposition of work-related injuries
  • Support development of applicable medical directives
  • Responsible for one or more special programs (e.g. blood drive, health promotion, etc.)
  • Oversees medical emergency response team (lay responders) including AED equipment
