About The Position

To assist the OR, Labor & Delivery Nursing Units, ER, Clinics and various other departments by processing and maintaining supplies and equipment (both sterile and unsterile) required for the care, diagnosis and treatment of the patient. To demonstrate a clear understanding of Central Service theory in such areas as medical terminology, cleaning, isolation and the ability to adapt the knowledge to Sterile Processing. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Requirements

High School diploma or equiv
CRCST Certification
1-3 years of previous hospital experience

Responsibilities

Understands the cleaning products and procedures used in Central Service and is able to choose the appropriate cleaning method for each item
Process and maintains surgical instruments for OR, Delivery Room, Dental clinic, clinics, ED, X-Ray, Minor Surgery and nursing units
Picks all instruments and assembles instrument trays and baskets for OR, ED, Delivery Room, Minor Surgery, X-Ray, nursing units and various other departments
Operates and maintains all mechanical cleaning machinery, sterilizer, cart washer, decomats and drying cabinets, etc. within the Central Service department
Sorts, examines, delints, folds, wraps and sterilizes linen
Performs all other duties when requested
