About The Position

The Spanish Teacher is a mission-driven educator who forms students academically, culturally, and spiritually through excellent instruction in the Spanish language and an intentional integration of Catholic values. The teacher supports the holistic formation of students—mind, body, and spirit—by fostering curiosity, discipline, respect for human dignity, and appreciation for global cultures within a Catholic worldview.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages, Education, or a related field
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
  • Ability to support students’ academic, personal, and spiritual development

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field
  • Teaching certification or licensure
  • Experience teaching in a Catholic or faith-based school
  • Familiarity with ACTFL standards, proficiency-based instruction, or AP Spanish (if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Teach Spanish courses at the assigned grade level(s) in alignment with school curriculum standards and Catholic educational philosophy
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish
  • Integrate Catholic values such as respect for human dignity, solidarity, and global responsibility into language and cultural instruction
  • Create a classroom environment rooted in mutual respect, compassion, and high academic expectations
  • Support students’ moral and character development alongside academic growth
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and provide timely, meaningful feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, and attendance in the school’s learning management system
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with students and parents, partnering in the educational mission of the school
  • Collaborate with colleagues in department meetings, professional learning communities, and curriculum development
  • Participate fully in faculty meetings, professional development, supervision duties, and other school responsibilities
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and service consistent with Catholic teaching
  • Actively support and advance the Catholic mission and identity of the school in curriculum, classroom culture, and community life
  • Serve as a positive role model of Christian values in speech, conduct, and relationships
  • Participate in the sacramental, spiritual, and communal life of the school, including prayer services, Mass, retreats, and mission-driven activities as appropriate
  • Respect and support the religious beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church while working collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families of diverse backgrounds
  • Commit to ongoing formation in Catholic education and the mission of the school
