The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including Air Force Space Command, U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. As a Project Management Specialist , you will support the Special Programs Division’s mission to deliver critical space and ground capabilities to the warfighter. In particular, the successful candidate will work with the Space-Based Surveillance and Reconnaissance Department’s leadership and technical staff to manage a portfolio of rapidly executed, high-potential projects selected to address the customer’s hardest challenges. The Project Management Specialist will be instrumental to the creation, implementation, and maintenance of the department’s project management system used to track our strategic, technical, and financial performance. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with database management
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience coordinating and managing multiple technical projects at once
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including MS Project (or equivalent project management tools)
  • Current and active TS/SCI with SAP eligibility, which is issued by the US government.
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Use Microsoft Project to develop and maintain top-level project schedules and milestones for a dynamic portfolio, working closely with the government to maintain alignment
  • Perform portfolio analysis, portfolio check-ins and other regularly scheduled reporting functions to track status and provide resource loading assessments
  • Develop and maintain tools/dashboards to provide budget information for project planning and staff formulation
  • Support the development of standard formats, tools or graphics libraries to enable/simplify generation of charts and diagrams (e.g., status reports, risk assessments, OV-1 diagrams)
  • Maintain, update and refine databases and tools (Excel or other) and associated dashboards used to track and report portfolio status and metrics
  • Organize and maintain the department’s online documentation libraries and recommend improvements and efficiencies
  • Support the development and organization of department communications, including highlights, activity reports, staff meetings, and corporate briefings to be distributed across the organization
