We have an exciting opportunity for a Space Environments Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. If selected you will: Provide support as a space environments engineer for multiple NASA programs including Gateway and Axiom Station. Provide systems engineering support with space environments requirements and verification activities, working in concert with NASA civil servants and designated contractors Evaluate induced environmental hazards between space station elements and visiting vehicles Conduct systems engineering trade studies in the form of modeling/analysis activities to identify potential contamination risks and mitigations strategies Develop and update semi-empirical and theoretical models Analyze/model molecular contamination and transport of contaminants from contamination sources (such as materials outgassing, vacuum venting, and chemical thruster plumes) onto external surfaces Analyze/model plasma effects and spacecraft charging Analyze/model radiation transport and effects to materials Assess compatibility of spacecraft hardware with natural and induced space environment Perform other duties as required
