Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline with 2 years’ machine shop experience OR Associates degree with 4 years’ machine shop experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ direct management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Effective communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to analyze production metrics and drive corrective actions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with lean/manufacturing/process improvement tools (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of 15–20 employees in a machine shop setting.
- Work with the Manufacturing Manager to develop and implement improvement plans (Value Stream or Production Improvement Plans) to achieve high-impact results.
- Define, track, and measure short- and long-term team goals aligned with organizational strategy.
- Use established standard work and production documentation to optimize personnel and equipment utilization, workflow, and cost efficiency.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and develop team members; manage performance and succession/growth opportunities.
- Proactively address and resolve employee relations issues; administer counseling, discipline, and performance feedback fairly and consistently.
- Ensure accurate employee time reporting and consistent application of personnel policies.
- Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
