About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is seeking a Space and Asset Assistant to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU's Facilities department, Space Management. Purpose within the Organization: The purpose of this position is to perform field data collection and input of Facilities assets and space attributes under the direction of Facilities management. Student workers will work both independently and in teams, indoors and outdoors, to gather asset information and space data across campus. Responsibilities include annotating locations, tagging assets, taking photos as needed, and researching manufacturer manuals and maintenance information to support asset records. Students will also organize and manage space data from both a design and drawing perspective, including updating and correcting drawings using field measurements in AutoCAD. Manual counts, site visits, and reporting are also part of the role, with findings compiled and presented using tools such as Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, they will input and maintain data in the Facilities Work Management System and FAMIS, verify space use, and document specific space attributes. Strong organizational skills are essential to effectively manage data, documentation, and reporting tasks.

Requirements

  • Familiarity and ability to work with AutoCAD software
  • Familiarity and ability to work with Microsoft office, such as PowerPoint, excel
  • Familiarity with FAMIS system space management
  • Must be able to move and lift max 50 lbs.
  • Experience working with and on a ladder

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and document asset information
  • Collect and record space attributes
  • Update and correct drawings using field measurements in AutoCAD
  • Conduct site visits, building walks, and asset counts; create visual and graphic documentation
  • Utilize FAMIS (facilities management system) to enter, update, and maintain room data and codes
  • Maintain inventory of blueprints and drawings; scan and organize documentation
  • Capture photos and identify key features for cataloging
  • Prepare and format field data for digital entry
  • Input and manage data within the Work Management System
