Job Summary: The Research Associate II independently executes and coordinates breeding research activities across Nursery, Increases, and Testing, ensuring data quality and operational precision. This position manages seasonal workers during field activities and supports advanced data analysis and reporting for selection decisions.

Requirements

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating cross-functional activities.
  • Strong sense of accountability and operational excellence.
  • Proficiency with research and statistical software (PBS, R, Excel).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field
  • Three (3) or more years of experience
  • Proven experience in small-plot field trials and data collection.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR guidelines.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute activities across nursery, increase, and testing programs.
  • Lead crossing block execution, tagging, and sample collection for population advancement.
  • Manage seed flow: cleaning, packaging, labeling, and shipment.
  • Conduct drone flights and organize data for image-based analysis.
  • Perform data summaries and statistical analyses using PBS or internal breeding tools.
  • Maintain full traceability of lines and pedigrees across breeding stages.
  • Supervise and train temporary field workers for notetaking, sampling, and pulling plants.
  • Coordinate WS nursery material and local population management.
  • Collaborate closely with Breeder and Breeder Assistant to ensure accurate and timely research execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
