This job is primarily responsible for performing all tasks dealing with preparation operations at a soybean processing location. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring assigned equipment, taking and analyzing samples, documenting, justifying process adjustments to maintain the daily operating parameters, maintaining housekeeping and security, and when applicable performing or assisting with minor maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Education Required - High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience Required – None.
  • Working knowledge of non-GMO versus GMO beans and how to avoid cross contamination.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to perform all duties while maintaining security.
  • Ability to perform all duties and tasks safely without posing harm to oneself or others.
  • Ability to complete documentation requirements.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned task.
  • Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting that includes up to 20 lbs. daily, 60 lbs. occasionally, and ask for assistance on anything over 60 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs repeatedly to significant elevation. At least 30 feet before a rest, and a total height of up to 120 feet.
  • Ability to be able to use a 300 pound rated ladder on regular basis.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights (100+ feet).
  • Ability to grasp and reach frequently.
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio.
  • Ability to understand and communicate written instructions.
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work the entire normally scheduled shift (including rotating shifts) and overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to work near water.
  • Ability to work in an environment with high dust levels.
  • Ability to perform work in confined spaces and significant heights.
  • Ability to meet requirements of PFT and fit testing, when applicable.
  • Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable.
  • Ability to work the entire normally scheduled shift (including rotating shifts) and overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.
  • The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Fully participate in the company Safety, Food Safety, and Quality programs and attend daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations (ISO where applicable); including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed.
  • Perform duties to monitor and make adjustments to process as needed to stay within daily operating parameters, communicates adjustments or reason(s) why daily parameters can't be met to shift supervisors so they can communicate to upper management.
  • Record adjustments, changes, and other issues in daily Prep Logbook for other shifts to review and reviews daily Prep Logbook from all previous shifts to stay abreast of current operations.
  • Complete documentation timely, accurately and legibly; complete all daily log sheets to include readings outside of parameters or normal operations.
  • Monitor and/or report to shift supervisor as to why proper flake thickness cannot be achieved or if passing cracks.
  • As directed by management during each shift, blow out steam coils and blow out flakes.
  • Ensure that sampling and collection guidelines are followed.
  • Manage pulling beans to plant.
  • Understand and run non-GMO beans through plant without contaminating them with GMO beans.
  • Monitor processing equipment and report mechanical issues to shift supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by management; including cleaning magnets as scheduled, working in any/all parts of the plant assisting with operations or maintenance and housekeeping duties in preparation area.
