About The Position
Sow Farm Manager. Western Elite Genetics Multiplication LLC. Crookston, NE. Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of a high health reproductive sow farm, including training, teaching, and coaching of team to ensure consistent implementation of best practices on the farms that drive productivity, optimize efficiency, promote sustainability, and safeguard the well-being of the animals. Promote team excellence in production planning, scheduling, execution of herd health tasks, and operational efficiency; promote and implement company vision to manage change on the farm to support innovation and drive continuous improvement. Oversee standard operating and biosecurity protocols, following all farm-level and company standards in pig care practices to maintain health and well-being of animals; implement changes to practices and protocols to improve operations. Focus on fiduciary responsibilities to reduce controllable costs, including labor resources to enforce employee efficiency. Enforce bio-security standards and herd health policies of all employees, including all PIC (Pig Improvement Company) requirements. Manage farrowing and gestation facilities; identify and resolve issues affecting herd health and safety. Ensure humane treatment of animals, overseeing the daily care of animals, environmental conditions, and ventilation systems. Oversee the appropriate use of system tools to maintain accurate production records while fostering a culture of lean continuous improvement and efficiency. Partner and communicate with other farm managers and veterinarians regarding the health of the herd and ensuring compliance with biosecurity protocols. Promote safe work habits and a safe working environment, ensuring all work-related injuries are reported, documented, and reduced through the implementation of proper training and safety procedure enforcement. Provide development opportunities for team; mentor and guide team members to reach professional goals. Implement best practices for environmental stewardship. Partner with Human Resources for hiring, staffing, discipline, and terminations of team members, including Animal Breeder positions. Position based in Crookston, Nebraska. Person in this position may be assigned to farm worksite locations in Ainsworth, Nebraska; and Columbus, Nebraska, as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- 30 months of experience in any sow farm position
- Two years of experience in a swine production management position
- Demonstrated understanding of swine care in all stages of production
- Demonstrated experience leading teams at livestock farm sites
- Demonstrated knowledge of animal welfare regulations and pork industry standards
