About The Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: • Creates and maintains accurate records within the ERP system, and subsequently the MRP module, to allow data to flow through efficiently. This may include supplier and product information. • Demonstrates the use of information gathering techniques, analyzes situations, and identifies implications in order to make correct decisions. • Leads the purchasing and production planning process for specific product families. • Assist in Product Information Audits and Manage Master Product Data. • Verifies and reviews purchase requisitions and purchase planning reports by comparing items requested to master approved list; clarifies unclear requests; obtains recommendations from suppliers for substitute items. • Issues purchase orders after verifying specifications and price. POs may be submitted via phone, fax, email, or other means. • Confirm all issued purchase orders, and expediting of said purchase order when needed. • Investigates all pricing/shipping/ordering discrepancies related to issued purchase orders. Works with Suppliers, RCC Receiving, and RCC Accounting group(s) concerning any discrepancies. • Analyzes variances, and initiates Supplier and Internal Corrective Actions. Maintains records of supplier’s non-conformance of goods. • Purchases MRO supplies for specific RCC departments. • Keep information accessible by sorting and filing documents, both electronically and physically. • Provide purchasing, planning, and control functions by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. • Prepares material purchases to support production schedules in a timely manner in order to meet customer demand and delivery goals. This will be done by reviewing and acting on order release, order action, and exception messages from the ERP system and other sources. • Communicates with production, planning and other functional areas to ensure plans are developed to meet all customer commitments, both internal and external. • Conducts daily reviews of shortages and expedite reports and requests to maintain inventory levels on both purchased and manufactured goods. • Expedite production orders that are needed in less than the normal lead time to improve the shortfall between the current plan and the requirements to meet or exceed the customer expectations. • Assesses capacity and makes recommendations to adjust capacity as required. • Assesses any resource restrictions and makes recommendations on how to remove such restrictions. • Assists with process improvement opportunities. Manages finished goods inventory levels by monitoring, reviewing, and updating key purchasing and production planning inputs. Synchronizes the production schedule based upon lead time of purchased materials. • Answers plant level questions and respond to requests from customer service. • Helps develop demand forecasts. • Helps develop stocking levels and stocking strategy. • Helps determine planning methodology and scheduling techniques applied to individual finished goods. • Calculates key inventory performance metrics such as turnover ratios, days of inventory on hand, labor productivity (including efficiency and utilization), and inventory valuations. • Manages surplus and obsolete inventories. • Adheres to both company and government guidelines and regulations. • Assists with periodic physical inventory as needed. • Help develop standard operation procedures for the RCC purchasing and planning departments. • Help implement new technologies and methodologies for RICCA CHEMICAL COMPANY. • Develops and maintains reports on KPIs that are consistent with executive strategies, service levels, and plant level performance. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, benchmarking practices; participating in professional societies. • Works within the RCC Purchasing and Planning department to provide support during periods of PTO and/or other times. • Other duties as needed. • Participate in team building and company sponsored events as needed. • Commitment to the organization’s values; High Standards, Bias for Action, Teamwork, Customer Obsession, Trust, Accountability, Innovation and Growth & Learning.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients and suppliers.
  • Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company.
  • An understanding of purchase order software platforms.
  • Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Math skills to make sure all calculations are correct and avoid any unforeseen losses for the company.
  • IT skills to troubleshoot essential computer programs.
  • Associate degree, bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Math or Science, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience, with three (3) or more years working within the purchasing department of a manufacturing company.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including experience with Excel skills with the ability to manipulate spreadsheets, create pivot tables and summarize data from multiple sources Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with the team with strong follow through.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills.

  • APICS CPIM certification is desirable.
