About The Position

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the daily sourcing activities in a manufacturing or distribution center. The Sourcing Specialist participates in ensuring compliance with sourcing procedures and ensuring that all transactions are made in accordance with agreed terms and conditions. This Sourcing Specialist reports to the Sourcing Leader for their assigned location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and equivalent minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a purchasing or sourcing role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to making and communicating a culture of positive change throughout the supply chain organization.
  • Exhibit problem solving skills.
  • Continuous process improvement mindset, including experience with Lean / Six Sigma.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP Systems (E.g. SAP).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares requests for quotation (RFQ), information (RFI) and proposals (RFP) within the system as directed by the facility's supply chain leadership.
  • Generate sourcing projects including tracking in systems (SAP, Ariba, Excel).
  • Identify the best fit suppliers to participate in the sourcing project request for quotation (RFQ) tendering process.
  • Ensure RFQ/I/P are created per the desired terms and conditions of the company’s needs.
  • Tracks their outstanding requests by assigned projects.
  • Transmit the appropriate supporting documents to the supplier.
  • Receive and catalog tender results from suppliers taking into consideration the point of origin and point of destination to calculate any applicable additional costs of ownership should that supplier be awarded the tender.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to meet specified quality, delivery and cost objectives.
  • Execute contract negotiation and development in coordination with Sourcing Leader and Contract Legal teams.
  • Work closely with business line sourcing and management teams to guarantee supply for portfolios.
  • Evaluate current and prospective suppliers through supplier reviews, site visits and audits, in coordination with supplier quality teams, to assure supply capabilities, on-time delivery, quality and service.
  • Subscribe to and comply with sourcing procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improving lead time, cost reduction and on time delivery.
  • Support the local facility quality control department by communicating disposition of deviation reports with the supplier which may arise during tendering activities.
  • Ensure adherence to SLB-approved supplier agreements/contracts.
  • Support purchasing and warehouse functions in resolving supplier discrepancies.
  • Complete actions to continuously reduce wasted time, money and resources.
  • Comply with Schlumberger and local procedures applicable to the job function.
  • All other duties as directed by their manager.
