The Sonographer will work in concert with radiologists to obtain high-quality ultrasound images and provide exceptional patient care.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT
ARDMS certified within first year of employment
Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications
Ability to work in a stressful environment
Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly
Ability to perform diagnostic procedures and to meet the specific needs of various patient age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
1 year experience in sonography preferred

Responsibilities

Work in concert with the radiologists to obtain high quality ultrasound images
Provide exceptional patient care
Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department
Explain the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety
Prioritize workflow in regard to patient condition and ensure patients' arrival and departure occur in a timely manner
Provide an atmosphere conducive to gain the patient's cooperation and confidence
Utilize data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participate in the planning and improvement process
Follow and support OSHA regulations and use universal precautions when required
Clean examination surfaces between patients
Provide clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels
Immediately clean spills following universal precautions
Properly store accessory equipment when not in use
Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals
Share and initiate regular and professional communication with co-workers
Facilitate and participate in regular staff meetings
Follow routine standards and properly and safely manipulate equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images
Maintain sterile equipment and fields
Adjust cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast
Perform any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment
Use protocols to obtain images of internal structures
Critique images for quality and make necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary
