The Sonographer will work in concert with radiologists to obtain high-quality ultrasound images and provide exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT
  • ARDMS certified within first year of employment
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly
  • Ability to perform diagnostic procedures and to meet the specific needs of various patient age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
  • 1 year experience in sonography preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work in concert with the radiologists to obtain high quality ultrasound images
  • Provide exceptional patient care
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department
  • Explain the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety
  • Prioritize workflow in regard to patient condition and ensure patients' arrival and departure occur in a timely manner
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to gain the patient's cooperation and confidence
  • Utilize data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participate in the planning and improvement process
  • Follow and support OSHA regulations and use universal precautions when required
  • Clean examination surfaces between patients
  • Provide clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels
  • Immediately clean spills following universal precautions
  • Properly store accessory equipment when not in use
  • Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals
  • Share and initiate regular and professional communication with co-workers
  • Facilitate and participate in regular staff meetings
  • Follow routine standards and properly and safely manipulate equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images
  • Maintain sterile equipment and fields
  • Adjust cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast
  • Perform any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment
  • Use protocols to obtain images of internal structures
  • Critique images for quality and make necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary
