Employee-centric Baptist Health has been selected as one of the “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare Position Summary The Solution Developer focuses on developing multiple types/categories of products including end-user applications and operating systems/utility software, that provides a platform for running end user applications for use by the organization. The work includes: conducting requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics, using programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code, supporting software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements, and applying knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study.
  • Associate’s degree and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of directly related work experience may also substitute for the Bachelor’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
  • Industry Certification in relevant field required.

  • Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of supporting agile project teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
  • Role may also require specific experience with solutions and products (Laboratory, Imaging, Supply Chain, Revenue Cycle, Allied Health, and other healthcare related disciplines).
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Practical understanding of business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
  • Design solutions architecture across a group of specific business/clinical applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements.
  • Develop architecture for a broader scope of projects, working closely with solution analysts, business & clinical analysts that manage and design architecture for multiple projects or initiatives.
  • Provide consulting support to solution analysts within projects to ensure the project is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
  • Practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Advocate the principles of information technology strategies.
  • Analyze the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation).
  • Analyze the technology industry, competitors and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
  • Engage with the governance activities associated with ensuring solutions architecture assurance and compliance.
  • Assist with development of a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from future to current state (as defined by the solutions architecture).
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
  • Consult with application and infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions architecture.
  • Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture.
  • Document all solution architecture design and analysis work.
  • Work closely with the program management office (PMO) or project management office to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
  • Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support on assigned products or product suite.
  • Recognized as an expert within the organization and has the required in-depth knowledge and / or breadth of expertise in products and a broad knowledge of products within the organization.
  • Solve unique problems that have a broad impact on the associated business functions requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions
  • Contribute to the development of functional strategy within the products scope
  • Anticipate business and regulatory issues, recommend products, process, or service improvements
  • Lead projects with notable risk and complexity; develop the strategy for project execution
  • Communicate complex ideas and anticipate potential objections and persuade others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view
  • Contribute to the direction and resource allocation for programs, projects, or services while working within general functional policies and industry guidelines
  • Participates in On-Call support rotation
